Made for runners in Ireland

How PaceMates works

From creating your profile to crossing the finish line with a training crew — here's everything PaceMates does for you.

1

Create your profile

Basic info

Name, photo, county, and city. Takes under a minute.

Running details

Set your pace range, preferred distances, goals, and availability so we can match you with compatible runners.

Privacy controls

Choose who can see your profile — public, members only, or private. You're always in control.

2

Find runners, groups & runs

People

Filter by county, pace, distance, goals, and availability. See who's near you and what they're training for.

Groups & Clubs

Casual crews, parkrun pages, women-only groups, and verified run clubs — find the right vibe.

Runs & Events

Browse upcoming runs in your area. RSVP with a single tap and see who else is going.

Map view

See runners, groups, and runs on an interactive map — plus anonymous heatmaps that highlight popular running areas near you.

See where people near you actually run

We use anonymous, privacy-safe heatmaps from real user runs to highlight popular running spots in your area. Easily spot safe, well-trodden routes without designing one from scratch.

Popular areas highlighted

Community heatmaps show parks, trails, and loops where runners actually go.

Privacy first, always

Start and end points are hidden. Data is aggregated — individual routes are never shown.

Easy route discovery

New to an area? The map shows tried-and-tested running spots at a glance.

3

Follow a structured training plan

Evidence-based plans designed for recreational runners — proper progression, cut-back weeks, and sensible volume. Start with your first 5K, build to 10K, or go all-in on a half or marathon with plans from 4 to 18 weeks. Pick one and start whenever you're ready.

Move sessions around

Drag a workout to a different day within the week. Long runs stay on the weekend by default, but midweek sessions are yours to rearrange.

Swap in your real runs

RSVP'd to a parkrun or group run? Use it in place of your scheduled session — the plan adapts to your life instead of the other way round.

Swap for easier options

Feeling tired? Replace a tempo with an easy run using safe presets. Guardrails prevent you from accidentally stacking too much intensity.

4

Discover runners on the same plan near you

When you enrol in a plan, you can opt in to being visible to other PaceMates on that same plan in your area. It's a lightweight way to find training partners who are at the same stage as you.

Opt in to share

Check “Share that I'm following this plan with nearby runners” when you enrol — or toggle it on later. Only your first name, approximate location, and pace are shown.

See nearby plan-mates

A “Runners near you on this plan” section appears on each plan page. View their profile or message them to coordinate a run together.

Turn it off any time

One tap to hide yourself from plan-mates lists — no need to unenrol. Your training data stays private to you.

Natural training crews

“We're both on the 10K plan” is the easiest way to start running together. Plan-mates create natural pathways to small training crews.

5

Track progress, complete your plan

Log sessions

Tick off each session as you go. Progress bars show your week and overall completion.

Mark complete

When you cross the finish line, mark the plan complete and see your full journey — sessions completed, weeks trained.

Leave feedback

Rate the plan and leave a comment. Your feedback helps us improve plans and helps other runners choose.
